Prince, a stunning black male with a handsome, broad face was raised on the Kraft farm in KS, raced in New Hampshire and is now looking to retire in MI. Prince seeks his very own Queen and King to share his love and life with and he wouldn’t mind a court jester or two either!
Prince found his forever home with Robin Willoughby on September 16, 2007
In September of 2007, GEM got a call from another adoption group that a lady had one of our dogs to return….
She’d called them because she thought GEM would put him down. I drove to Jackson to hear the story and pick him up.
The lady was SO nice and told me her son had acquired this poor dog from some folk who were moving….
He took this horribly skinny dog to his mother who already had 2 dogs and asked her to help him…
She washed him and got some groceries into him and he gained 5 pounds! She would have loved to keep him but her husband said no…
He was deathly skinny and had black teeth with breath that could kill a cow, his coat was AWFUL, but he was happy. And he KNEW me!
He remembered me! He was one of 8 dogs we brought back from New Hampshire in 2001! Prairie Prince.
So we happily drove home …he with his face in my face…..me with the windows wide open because of the smell….
By the time we got home we were in love…indelibly in love.
We got some more weight on him before he had to undergo a lot of dental surgery.
In the end…he had 9 teeth, and his fur was always bunny soft. A thin guy who spoke his mind….
But I loved him….loved him enough to let him go today.
He was 13 years, 8 months old.
