I met Zane on my birthday in 2000 while visiting the Taylor farm in Abilene, Kansas. Zane Grey was the name of my grandfather’s favorite author, so when I saw a crate with that name on it I had to introduce myself. Zane raced briefly at Camptown in Kansas, until it closed and then he moved over to the Woodlands track in Kansas City where he achieved grade C for a time. He’s been struggling with a nagging shoulder injury and John decided it was time for him to retire at the ripe old age of 3 yrs old. The photo at top was taken while visiting the Taylor farm this summer when I was in Kansas for the Abilene Gathering. The Next two are here in MI at my home.

UPDATE: Zane is going to make an excellent meet & greet dog!! He was just awesome at the Renissance Festival this weekend, even marched in the parade and greeted everyone he met with a nice lean and kisses. I hope to see both my boys inspire many more people to adopt a greyhound.
